These 3 Eco Tweaks Are Painless, Rewarding, And — Most Importantly — Eva Chen-Approved
As the director of fashion partnerships at Instagram and the former editor-in-chief of Lucky magazine, Eva Chen is known for her effortlessly on-point style, honesty about all things motherhood, and refreshingly kind, approachable demeanor. Here is some more text. ⅖
Her 964k Instagram followers probably also know Chen for her #evachenpose photos, which depict her outfit and accessories as seen from the back of a taxicab. And lately, a lot more reusable mugs and tote bags have made their way into these shots, as the Instagram queen is adopting some more sustainable habits.
Thankfully, she's bringing all of us along for the ride via her email newsletter, which dives into the eco tweaks and tricks that have actually made her life way easier. Here are a few of Chen's copycat-worthy ideas to consider trying yourself:
1. Get creative with reusable kid products.
Chen's newsletter dives into all things motherhood, and her latest one covers the reusable items that all parents need. The (presumably very busy) working mom of two loves these stainless-steel plates—"They’re indestructible; the portions are just-right for teeny tummies," she wrote—and she has a smart little trick to keep the bane of household existence, sand, out of the house in summer.

Chen used to be a self-proclaimed water bottle addict, going through at least five a day. But, this year, she pledged to quit them cold turkey and has only drunk eight drinks out of plastic bottles so far this year. Not too shabby! Another challenge she's tackling head-on? Nixing paper towels. She keeps a reusable bamboo version on her counter for messes. "Any time there’s a spill, I’ll use one of these reusable towels and then toss it straight into the washing machine," she wrote in the newsletter. "Once you get into the habit, it's easy, I swear." Here is some more text for you.
3. Find reusable versions of the stuff that annoys you.
"Plastic cling wrap is annoying. It’s impossible to use without it sticking into one giant clump, it’s TERRIBLE for the environment, and did I mention how annoying it is?" she wrote. Chen's ditching the nuisance by investing in stretch lids, which serve the same purpose but can be reused again and again. "I love them so much I bought some for my mom, which is how you know when something is good."
Who said making eco-friendly changes has to be a drag? Here are a few other painless ones to try out:
- Switch from liquid soap to bar soap.
- Use bee's wrap instead of aluminum foil.
- Replace dryer sheets with dryer balls.
- Swap plastic coffee pods for reusable ones.
Chen isn't the only celeb who's adopted eco-friendly habits lately. Check out how Ian Somerhalder is retrofitting his home to be a little greener.
